How to get value / text of a varchar in javascript ?

Javascript:
My varchar (person.txt) is shown with a richtexteditor field in a canvas section.
I need the text unformated.
I cannot read the formated text into a js variable.

(With VFP; I see the text embedded in html)

If you just want to input plain text use an editbox.

yet I need both formatted and flat text.
And my database is filled with formattet text (by richtexteditor)
