Playing (or working) with Linux on your Windows 10 machine

Hi all,

Having tried and failed (with a lot of work to clean up) to get Windows Sub-system for Linux 2 (WSL2) running on my Windows 10 desktop I came across a how-to which took a different, very direct approach. I tried it, and it worked, just as advertised.

I also took the suggestion and installed Windows Terminal at the end of the process. Click the down-arrow next to the new tab "+" and you can open the Unbuntu terminal:

And it gets even better: I downloaded the Linux install for 5.5.1 from Chrome in Windows. It went into my Download directory in Windows, as usual. As you can see in the pic on my initial post the Terminal prompt was in my User directory. I CD'd to the Downloads directory ( CD Downloads ) and from there ran the Lianja install following the directions on the Lianja download page for the Linux install. So I ran a Linux command on a file on my Windows download directory. Color me surprised and pleased.

Finally, the ODBC install process proved to be a little more complicated than thought.
